39% of all fatal car wrecks involve alcohol. Then their are the survivors who suffer, it's a pathetic problem in our country, my sympathies!

"exaggeration?" my friend was in a wreck and her hospital bills went over a million. when you pay 150. for them to give you a damn tylenol, what do you think they charge for surgery, medicine? my bill for having my gallbladder out is 20000...some people don't realize the effects of these things--not just physically and emotionally, but financially, as well.

i forgot to add that her neck was broken & she's paralyzed from her chest down. she was 17 at the time. (we're now 22) she's not bitter, just thankful to be alive at all.

Thank you for making your story available to us. My husband and I were hit twice in 7 months by UNINSURED DUI drivers. ONE NIGHT in the trauma center cost $20,000. EACH! We had NO option where we went. Our Auto Med insurance limit was $10,000. Our other med ins kicked in. When we got settlement from our auto ins co, we had to pay a high percentage of that back out of the settlement.

Our credit is ruined. Our injuries weren't awful, still we each had $35,000 in med costs during the 1st 3 months! The driver in the 1st wreck, the one that hospitalized us doesn't even know how it affected us because she accepted a plea and didn't go to trial.

My Brother was killed on the way home from the movies with his wife and children a drunk driver crossed center lines and hit my brother head on. He died in front of my 2 year old niece and 6 year old nephew. His wife was in a coma for a week and 6 ofh er ribs were broken and so was her leg. The driver was a 26 year old with two other dui's

I am so sorry to hear of your lost, I think they should have more stricter laws. I know there is alot of bad drinkers here that just think its not going to happen to me. It drives me nuts.. its bull, they need to be causht.

the punishment should be min. 5 years in prison, 100,000 dollar fine, and your license taken away permanently. how is hitting a construction worker have a higher much higher fine then dui

We pay taxes, We put law makers in office; so why is it so hard to protect people from drunk driving. There should be no second chance for drunks to walk free. If we are manged and crippled due to their drving, we have no 2nd chance! IT'S JUST STUPID. I've had 2 car wrecks in my life and both times I was hit by a drunk driver, I'm terrified that it could happen again.

I am so sorry my brother for what you have gone through and what you have to go through I too am a survivor and know too well what pain you go through. I go through pain to this day both physical and emotional. My crash was in 2001. I was given a second chance and use it to perhaps help others. Thank you for sharing. Anthony

i was just in a car with a drunk driver. it is very scary you wont realize that you are drunk until you really think or get pulled over or hit something. luckily my friend stopped him before he did any damage. dont drink and drive you are putting everyone at risk of injury or death

I think that would be kool training to use those goggles as part of a driver Ed lesson at highschools. Dunno if that would actually help much, but maybe it would be a tad educational.

i dont drive yet but my dad drinks and everytime he goes to a party i tell him to hand over the keys and call a friend to drive him there and back and luckily he listens!!♥ and i hope it will stay that way forever! and i know im just saying that now but i dont think im gonna drink because it kills you and ruins ur brain cells soo..... people who drink DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE♥☻☺ PLZ! don't risk ur friends and ur life just for a drink, orange juice,water,milk???
