That chipping you hear is the wastegate on the turbo letting out excess boost...but yeah...it sounds like a pissed off squirrel.

No it's not.
It's the compressed air passing back through the compressor wheel when the throttle is closed, and is quite stressful on the turbo.

what the chirping is is actually the absense of a blow off valve. the sound is caused by compressor surge, air bouncing back from the throttle body and going back to the turbine. this in conjuction with anti-lag makes for the most ideal boost loss system
